Our Place After School Care

Our Place After School Care creates a caring community that encourages teens with special needs, ages 13-20, to practice academic, social, and life skills; be involved in community service, and have enriching experiences.

Our Place After School Care provides supervision and care to support parents and their teens ages 13-20 with special needs. Daycare for teens is expensive (often beyond family budgets) and challenging to find for working parents. Our Place is the only program that offers this service in Nebraska. We provide up to three hours of quality after-school care for these students during the school year. In addition, when schools are closed during the summer or school breaks, our program provides care from 7:45 am until 5:15 pm. Students enrolled in our program have opportunities to volunteer in the community, practice skills needed to apply for and maintain employment, gain new skills in cooking, and enjoy arts and crafts activities. Our teens can choose to consign their arts and crafts to the Freedom Factory. Freedom Factory is a ministry of Our Place where local artisans consign their art. It is a place to find original and affordable gifts for all occasions.
Parents are charged based on their taxable income using a sliding fee scale. Most of the families we serve live at or below the poverty level, and we depend on the generosity of our donors.
