OUR MISSION:

Our mission for both PA PETS programs is simple:  To spay and neuter cats and dogs until such time as there are no more homeless or unwanted animals.  It's the most humane and effective solution to our region's animal overpopulation problem and our overcrowded shelters and rescues.

Since 1987, PA PETS has spayed/neutered and vaccinated over 45,750 animals in North Central PA, including over 11,200 outside, homeless cats since our TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) Program was launched in 2012.

During 2025, PA PETS spayed/neutered and vaccinated 1,083 dogs and cats through our two programs.

We cannot do what we do without your ongoing help and support.

OUR ORGANIZATION:

PA PETS, Inc. was approved as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 1987.  Our organization features two programs to provide financial and logistical support to residents to spay/neuter and vaccinate their pet dogs and cats as well as outside, homeless cats in their neighborhoods and on their farms.

OUR TWO SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAMS:

PA PETS Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Program for pet dogs & cats provides financial and logistical support to limited income individuals and families (with household incomes up to $40,000/year) residing in our service area (Columbia and Montour Counties) to spay/neuter their pet dogs and cats.  When applicants to this program are approved, PA PETS pays for the spay/neuter surgery itself at our participating veterinary clinics, and the client is responsible for the non-surgical costs.

PA PETS' TNR (Trap - Neuter - Return) Program was launched in 2012 to provide support to spay/neuter and vaccinate outside, homeless cats throughout North-Central Pennsylvania (The Susquehanna Valley).  This program has no limitation regarding residency in a specific county nor household income limitation, and currently we are supporting TNR Program clients in 10 counties.  In addition to financial support, PA PETS loans "Live Traps" (box traps) to our TNR Program clients to avoid having to purchase traps.  Our volunteers also train the clients how to use the traps, how to transport the cats, and how to recuperate them safely after surgery.

Applications for assistance from BOTH of our PA PETS Programs are found on our PA PETS Website (https://pennsylvaniapets.org) and can be printed, completed and mailed to, or dropped off at our PA PETS Thrift Store at 203 E. Fifth Street, Bloomsburg, PA 17815. The store has a mail slot to drop off completed applications and co-payments after hours.  When the applications for each program are reviewed and approved, PA PETS Volunteers contact the approved clients to coordinate the vet care services.

OUR REVENUES:
PA PETS organization does not receive any governmental funds. Our operating funds include: Revenues from our PA PETS Thrift Store (supported by our volunteers), client copayments, grant support, fund-raising events, and individual donations.

OUR EXPENSES:

PA PETS is 100% volunteer supported.  We have no paid employees, directors or board members.  Our annual expenses include:

86% - Program Support (clinic fees for spay/neuter and vaccination services)

10% - Thrift store maintenance (rent, utilities, repairs)

3% - Administrative & Professional Services support (tax preparation, insurance)

1% - Fundraising expenses

OUR COLLABORATIONS:

PA PETS TNR Program continues to collaborate with two other non-profit organizations in our region - Friends and Ferals, Inc. (Bloomsburg, PA), and Heidi's Furry Friends Rescue, Inc. (Williamsport, PA) - by providing financial support to pay the clinic invoices for our mutually approved TNR Program clients.  By combining our efforts, we are helping more outside, homeless cats to live healthier lives while reducing the number of unwanted, homeless kittens in our region.
