Peoples Forest Foundation

A nonprofit organization

The People's Forest Foundation is a non-profit entity that empowers individuals to protect and conserve Louisiana's heartland forests by creating spaces for both nature and people to flourish.

We hope to conserve native forests, protect wildlife habitats, cultivate your curiosity about the natural world, and foster your wellness by ensuring that the Northshore forests endure. We aim to nurture a community of people that cares about conservation through outreach and educational events. We host various experts at the Abita Springs Town Hall for "Nature Nights" to provide a lecture and discussion related to local ecology and conservation. Additionally, our conservation biologist, Jacob Bopp, provides free guided nature tours in local areas of interest to educate and instill wonder about the native forests while enjoying them. We also have a regular presence at Northshore Farmer's Markets in Covington, LA and Abita Springs, LA where we provide education and resource discussion about flora, fauna, and ecosystems endemic to this region. Through these events, we are building a grassroots community focused on conserving the natural wonders native to our neighborhoods. With the help of our community, we fundraise to acquire land for dedication to conservation in perpetuity, and we also work with private landowners to restore, manage, and optimize their forests.
