Permian Basin Honor Flight

A nonprofit organization

Permian Basin Honor Flight is an all-volunteer nonprofit committed to honoring our local WWII, Korea and Vietnam Veterans with an all-expense paid trip to Washington DC to see the memorials built in their honor.

The Permian Basin Honor Flight has flown 11 missions with over 1000 local Veterans. 108 Veterans have flown from the San Angelo area. 13 are on the waiting list for the 2025 flight. For the Veterans, this is an all-expense paid 3 day, 2 night trip with luxury accommodations. It begins in the air with a mail call featuring messages of appreciation from school children. The Veterans arrive in Washington to cheers and flag waving. Each day they visit the memorials to lay wreaths. Nothing compares to experiencing these trips with their comrades. A doctor and 3 nurses attend to them if needed. There's lots of fun too with trips to various museums and a dinner featuring a 60s tribute band. The final day, they arrive home to a heroes reception at the airport. Providing healing and the welcome home many never received. The Permian Basin Honor Flight is an all-volunteer group, so every penny donated goes towards these missions. The next flight is April 24-26. We have two board members from the San Angelo area. Their group represents us and helps raise funds in San Angelo.
