Pittsburgh Philharmonic

A nonprofit organization

The Pittsburgh Philharmonic has dual missions: 1) to serve the community by providing a variety of classical music and educational entertainment in innovative, affordable, and accessible concerts in the Greater Pittsburgh area; and 2) to provide an opportunity for dedicated and talented amateur musicians to collaborate to make great music. The Philharmonic is steadfast in its dedication to artistic development, educational programs, encouraging diversity, and promoting musical performances.

Now in its 41st season, the Pittsburgh Philharmonic is Southwestern Pennsylvania's premier volunteer orchestra. Approximately 70 musicians from throughout the tri-state area, ranging in age from 15 to 80, perform great works of classical music at various venues in the region. Members of the orchestra include business professionals, retirees, students, teachers, and other professionals, some who have been performing with Philharmonic for over 20 years. Many teach or play music professionally, and some have advanced music degrees.

The Philharmonic is committed to the creative expression of great music played passionately, with core traditions of education, affordability and accessibility. From our Summer Student Side-by-Side program to our Young Artist Concerto Contest, the Pittsburgh Philharmonic provides opportunities to showcase local youth talent. We are an organization committed to artistic development and quality programming, with a goal of providing convenient and affordable access to orchestral music to the greater Pittsburgh community.
