Since 1992, nestled in a historic building in Portsmouth’s iconic South End, The Players’ Ring has served as a home for fearless theatre—where hundreds of local artists bring bold stories to life and audiences are invited into a space of joy, wonder, and connection.

Our uniquely intimate venue allows for transformative experiences—where patrons are not just spectators, but part of the performance. Artists find in the Ring a rare opportunity: to unleash their creative power and work professionally in their craft. And the ripple effects are real—driving cultural vitality, supporting local business, and strengthening the creative economy across our region.

In recent years, we’ve embraced an ambitious path of artistic excellence, operational growth, and community impact. The results have been powerful—but so have the costs and the risk. Ticket sales cover 66% of our budget, and with just $11,000 left to meet our season-end goal of $120,000, we’re calling on you.

Who We Are

Founded in 1992, the mission of The Players’ Ring is to support the efforts of local artists for the production of original and established works. The Ring provides them an affordable theatre space, personalized mentorship, and a supportive environment where playwrights, directors, producers and performers can be creatively free, take risks and thrive.
