Pro Action of Steuben & Yates, Inc.

Pro Action of Steuben and Yates, Inc. is a Community Action Agency serving Steuben and Yates Counties since 1965. Pro Action offers a comprehensive, integrated family of services that support as they strive to advance themselves.

This year, Pro Action's FLX Gives campaign will focus efforts to raise funds for our Community Action Angels Program. Community Action Angels is our grassroots, unfunded needs program. Every dollar raised, goes directly back into the hands of people in our local community to serve a variety of needs. Community Action Angels is unique in that its flexible format allows us to assist people who may not typically qualify for services. Some examples of the help we provide: 

• Emergency basic needs - utilities, diapers, prescriptions, formula, and security deposits for safe housing
• Transportation assistance - bus passes, gas cards, DMV fees, and car repairs to get to work and medical appointments
• Uniforms, footwear and other necessary work or training related attire
• Medical equipment and co-pays
• Identification document replacement, certification testing or fingerprinting fees
• Holiday assistance

This year- we are working to support the unprecedented number of unhoused children in our community during the holiday season. Working directly with our local Department of Social Services, we will serve a minimum of 50 unhoused children, by providing their most wished for toy(s) and most-needed clothing item(s). We will also provide a travel or tote bag to help keep their new items clean and safe.  There are no words to describe what this means to a child living in the face of adversity and uncertainty.

Any funding we earn beyond our goal will be applied to other Community Action Angels requests, or back to school needs.
