Project Dignidad

Feed the hungry - local food pantry. Project Dignidad is an ecumenical ministry that provides food and clothing to individuals and families. Food consisting of produce, staples and canned foods are given directly to individuals and families. We also can assist with some prescription medication and utility bills. We give out special baskets of food for Easter and Thanksgiving meals and gave out vouchers worth up to $50 for new school shoes for 500 children last year.

Project Dignidad (PD) was formed in 1976 as a shared ministry among a consortium of San Angelo and area churches. It's a ministry that reaches those in our community who are in need of receiving a hand-up. Many different churches, individuals and civic organizations provide donations of food and/or financial resources. PD is open M- F, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. The food pantry is closed on most holidays. There are two staff people who are responsible for overseeing the screening to determine each client's greatest need. PD assists with food, clothing, medication and utility needs as the budget allows.
