St. Louis Teachers' Recycle Center

A nonprofit organization

SLTRC advocates for the educational excellence (for the benefit of children) through the interactive, hands-on experiential learnng. It offers creative solutions for problems facing education, business and the environment. This triple bottom line benefits the (St. Louis) people, planet and profit.
SLTRC and Play Your Art Out (PYAO) Studio is run and supported by volunteers! Each donate time and/or resources to help make a difference in our St. Louis community.
For the past 28 years, SLTRC has diverted approximately 20,000 pounds of material each year by locating, collecting and distributing donations of clean industrial by-products, overruns and rejects. The general public donates materials requested by educators from their homes and businesses. Together we continue to make a difference. Both SLTRC and PYAO are dedicated to keeping materials and reusable resources out of the landfill and putting them in the hands of children, educators, parents, artists and community members for creative and intellectual development.
All children and adults will experience and develop respect for our planet and recognize that this begins with respect of each individual to make a difference in the world.
SLTRC is irrevocably dedicated to and operated exclusively for nonprofit purposes:
*To operate, support and promote the use of SLTRC in St. Louis for the collection and distribution of materials used in motivating and creative learning
*To assist a Missouri network of Reuse Center to establish and support centers throughout the state, to motivate creative learning and thinking.
*To promote and provide play based learning and other professional development services in all core subject areas (math, science, literacy and art)
* Trainings that teach environmental responsibility through reuse and raise awareness regarding waste's inherent environmental and economic costs to our local and statewide community, and the promotion of waste minimization reuse methods and alternatives
*Participate in existing statewide programs to promote business environmental responsibility and stewardship by helping them reduce waste and disposal costs by diverting portions of their waste disposal stream through SLTRC
*Promote sustainability and community building by working with St. Louis Earth Day 365 and other environmental and educational programs
*STLRC and PYAO provide volunteer opportunities for individuals, parent organizations, corporations, students and community groups
