Riverlife

A nonprofit organization

Riverlife seeks to reclaim, restore and promote Pittsburgh's riverfronts as the environmental, recreational, cultural and economic hub of the region.

Pittsburgh's riverfronts are incredible assets that connect our residents and visitors with the natural resources that make our region unique. Our riverfront trails and open spaces are the result of many organizations' dedicated efforts. For more than fifteen years Riverlife has been a major leader in the creation of a contiguous riverfront trail and park system along our three rivers. The Great Allegheny Passage, a trail from Washington, D.C. to Point State Park, lacks three critical connection points Downtown that when completed will afford the public a safe and scenic alternative to traveling on downtown streets. Riverlife is working with key stakeholders to create a family-friendly gateway at the intersection of Grant Street and Fort Pitt Boulevard and to connect the Mon Wharf Landing to the Smithfield Street Bridge via an ADA-compliant switchback ramp. The PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is completing the third connection from the Landing to Point State Park.
