RiverStage Community Theatre is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven arts organization with a mission to provide opportunities for talented, creative teams of performers and storytellers to develop as artists on our stage and behind the scenes to share high-quality theatre with audiences in the Greater Susquehanna Valley. We absolutely cannot exist to create great theatre without the generous contributions and financial support of many individuals and charitable organizations across the region and Commonwealth.
We are now in the middle of bringing our 13th season of theatre to audiences in our area! With plays, musicals, and partnering with Strictly Ballet to host The Lewisburg Victorian Nutcracker each December, we produce year-round live theatre right in the heart of Lewisburg, giving artists of all ages a chance to shine and giving audiences high-quality shows to enjoy.
Our "home base" is at Greenspace Center, the former high school building in downtown Lewisburg, and having this home year-round (that includes a performance space and additional work areas) has fundamentally transformed our organization and the quality of our productions, but we could never afford to have this space without financial support from community members like you. Ticket prices (which we strive to keep as low as possible) only cover a percentage of our expenses for the year, so we are grateful for the financial support we receive each year during Raise the Region. Can you help us today?
We thank you for your support as we continue to bring high-quality theatre to our community!
RiverStage was first founded under a different name in 2003 as a community of actors, directors, musicians and crew who were committed to bringing top-notch theatre to the Greater Susquehanna Valley.
In its first nine years, the group produced shows on the Milton High School stage, branching out with a play at the Campus Theatre in Lewisburg in Lewisburg, before re-incorporating as "RiverStage Community Theatre" in 2012 with the ambitious mission to produce plays, musicals and other works of theatre year-round in the Greater Susquehanna Valley
This year, we are producing our 13th full season. Already wrapped up are Shirley Jackson's "THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE," the annual Lewisburg Victorian Nutcracker, and 50th anniversary production of Ntozake Shange's "FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO HAVE CONSIDERED SUICIDE / WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENUF." Upcoming are "THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK" (April 10-19) and our musical, "1776" (June 19-28), produced with support from a generous grant from AmerPA250. We are also pleased to be able to offer our stage and spacious auditorium for other artistic events throughout the year, including dance recitals (Bucknell, Downtown Dance), meetings, and concerts (such as Music in the Park).
Our mission will always be to bring together both professional and amateur talent of the area for the development and advancement of literary, artistic, musical and dramatic production. We hope you will support us as we continue to bring high-quality, fresh,top-notch theatre to our community!
