Ruth's Way was founded by Minister Isis L. Chatman in 2005 in response to a distressing need among the female youth of Allegheny County, Pittsburgh and surrounding areas for Achievement Consulting.
Ruth's Way, Inc. is a faith-based, nonprofit organization, and the only existing Achievement Consulting Agency for Adolescent Girls in which we help female youth ages 10-17 to achieve their most successful futures possible. We help all girls to strategically plan for achieving successful futures by showing them how to identify and then properly address barriers that threaten their successful futures so that they will be properly equipped to conquer future adversities as successful women. We specialize in the behavioral health issues of adolescent female youth, and we guide them through the process of peeling back the layers of their lives in order to identify the root of the negative issues being displayed. All our programs and services are carried out from a strengths-based and empowerment perspective supporting girls and their families being in control of their own processes and outcomes. We provide our services to approximately 100-200 adolescent female youth and their families across Allegheny County communities per year.
Our Achievement Consultation Program focuses on teaching female youth the phenomenal skill of healthy self-reliance through our "Blueprint-To-Achievement". Through this process, we teach female youth how to properly identify and appropriately address their barriers to successful futures, including behavioral health issues, so that they are properly prepared to deal with future life adversities. This process allows us to provide female youth with the tools that they need to finally break the vicious cycles of dependency on programs and agencies which have historically oppressed them.
We use a dual strategy of social and individual programming: we provide individual and family consultations through our Achievement Consultations, and we facilitate a series of 4 strategic curricula through group sessions which we refer to as our Fabulous Forums.
Achievement Consultations: In consultation, we conduct a full initial assessment to identify the strengths and needs of the young lady and her family, designate appropriate goals for them to strive for based on the needs identified, and determine what specific collaboration of services are necessary for them to achieve these goals. After this initial assessment, girls and their families are led through the "Blueprint-To-Achievement" process which is a systematic approach focused on teaching female youth how to identify, anticipate, and properly address any barriers to achieving a successful future. We are intentional in extending our service provisions to the families of our participants because we realize that our participants cannot truly achieve success if the persons responsible for raising them are not successful.
Through our unique process of Achievement Consultations, our Achievement Consultants work one-on-one with female youth and their families to create and strategize personalized Life Goal Plans which include determining appropriate service provisions necessary for successful goal attainment. Service provisions provided include a combination of our own in-house services, including Behavioral Health, Life Skills, Career and Employment Training, Financial Literacy, etc., combined with referral resources including mental health services (such as psychological and therapeutic evaluations/assessments and counseling), food, clothing, etc. Through this process of consulting with our female youth and their families, we deliver exceptional services from a strengths-based and empowerment perspective, while working together as a team to ensure that they achieve what they feel would be their most successful future possible.
Under the umbrella of our Achievement Consultation Program, we also have an array of curricula that we facilitate, which focus on the long-term benefits for our female youth to achieve successful futures as productive women and are conducted in the form of interactive conversations with our participants vs. talking at them, referred to as our "Fabulous Forums".
Our Fabulous Forums consist of an array of gender-specific programs that focus on the recreation and positive development of adolescent females! Most of our programs are called "Forums" because of our unique conversation-style facilitation of the curriculum...
