Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist

A nonprofit organization

The 500 year-old St. John Oak remains one of the oldest landmarks in our city.  As we have worked over the last few years to preserve our church for the coming generations, it is now time to shift our focus to care for our oak tree.

Oak's Needs:
Support struts are cutting into the tree and need to be replaced and relocated
Tree needs to be trimmed
Light surrounding the oak need to be replaced

Oak Tree Fun Facts:
It is currently the Vice President of the National Live Oak Society and one of the oldest members.
The trunk is 9.2 feet in diameter with a circumference of 28.9 feet.  It stands approximately 126 feet high and spreads to 148 feet.
The largest limp of the tree has been calculated to weigh 72 tons.

Our goal is to raise $75,000. Any amount in addition to the expense of the maintenance of The St. John Oak will be allocated for the ongoing preservation campaign.
