San Antonio Botanical Garden

A nonprofit organization

Grow Tomorrow's Trees. Take Root With Us Today.

This Big Give, your support helps the San Antonio Botanical Garden conserve one of Texas's most iconic natural treasures: the Oak.

Why Oaks?

Oaks are the backbone of Texas ecosystems, supporting wildlife, preserving biodiversity, and creating healthier air, cooler temperatures, and stronger landscapes. But many iconic species are at risk of disappearing. Your gift helps protect these essential trees.

Why Now?

Oaks support entire ecosystems, and their acorns must be planted quickly or they will die. To preserve these species, we must grow them by hand.

Your Impact

Powered by philanthropy, the Garden's Conservation team is collecting, grafting, and growing rare and endangered Oaks from all over Texas. This includes Oak species thought to be extinct: Late-leaf Oak (Quercus tardifolia), Hinckley Oak (Quercus hinckleyi), and Mexican Dwarf Oak (Quercus depressipes).

With over 120 Oak species in our care, the Garden is becoming a safe haven for plants that cannot wait. Your generosity helps us expand our Oaks Collection to protect Texas biodiversity for future generations.

Take root with us, and help these trees take root too.
