South Carolina Christian Action Council Inc.

A nonprofit organization

The mission of the South Carolina Christian Action Council (SCCAC) is to promote and facilitate dialogue among diverse Christian traditions on matters of belief and practice; and to work in partnership to: advocate for social justice, promote peace-making, and foster racial and cultural healing and reconciliation.

The South Carolina Christian Action's 13 Christian denominations strive to live in unity and work together with other partners for justice. Approximately 3,800 congregations with nearly one million members, the Council responds to the often despairing Daily News with the hope of the Good News. From the one heart of Christ the Council raises its unified voice to create a more just society. Since the early days of the Civil Rights movement focused on the desegregation of public schools and advocacy for children and healthy families, the Council has faithfully called for the care of persons living with AIDS and against the demons of domestic violence. Current advocacy issues include racial justice and healing, reducing gun violence, passing moral and fair immigration law, regulating predatory lenders, full and equitable funding of public education, and making affordable, quality healthcare accessible to all.
