The Schooner Youth Center Inc

The Schooner Youth Center provides a venue and leadership for a growing number of youth-related training and recreational activities to help youths productively serve their community and their country.

Current activities include a morning coffee bar, dramatic arts training, Zumba classes, a Christian newspaper, two food distribution programs including a citywide food pantry, and youth basketball. Future plans include the housing of minority businesses, with an eye to helping young entrepreneurs learn how to start businesses and apply for government contracts. Rents from the business offices underwrite the costs involved in recreational and training activities. The SYC is guided by a board of eight dedicated community members.
