To help enable the ocean's superpowers, our programs work to plant, protect, and restore coastal ecosystems, while also activating people to live a more sustainable, ocean positive life. Our globally recognized programs, SeaTrees and the ECOBOARD Project, are "onramps" for brands and individuals to have a direct and measurable positive impact on our planet.
Sustainable Surf has a strong focus on sustainability and regenerative action campaigns. Our organization blends non-profit activism with an entrepreneurial business mindset, to create a highly innovative culture that engages businesses and individuals to take action to reverse climate change. The SeaTrees Program funds this work through donations from businesses and individuals who are committed to reversing climate change, and creating sustainable livelihoods for local communities.
We partner with local nonprofit organizations at each project location to manage the restoration and protection work being done, providing a vast array of critical benefits to both people and the planet. We develop coastal restoration projects, also known as blue carbon projects, across five ecosystem types: mangrove forests, kelp forests, seagrass meadows, coral reefs, and coastal watersheds.
"It's hard to find environmental purpose in the wine industry, and with Head High, it's incredibly important to feel like we're making a difference and giving back to the earth; it drives us every day. With SeaTrees, we fill that void- we feel good about the day-to-day work we do, making sure we are being cautious with our carbon footprint and being kind to the earth. After all, the wine industry is run by Mother Nature and it's our duty to protect it." - Colette Simpson, General Manager Head High Wines
"At Burgeon, we see our partnership with SeaTrees as a key that unlocks doors to meaningful and high-impact climate action opportunities. We've collaborated closely with the non-profit to launch products, events, and campaigns that resulted in the restoration of thousands of square feet of kelp forest, supported the groundbreaking research coming from the Kelp Restoration Science Initiative, and compensated for Burgeon's 2022 carbon footprint by protecting a coastal watershed in Cambodia and planting mangroves in Kenya. The purchase of SeaTrees' Verra-certified carbon offsets combined with our carbon measurement & reduction strategies resulted in Burgeon becoming the first brewery to certify with Ocean+Positive, 1% for the Planet, and Climate Neutral. Our customers and sales accounts have told us that our commitment to the planet matters to them and influences their decision-making, and we've observed the revenue & audience growth to know that doing good for the planet is good for business. By tying environmental efforts to our work brewing craft beer, we get to live out our values through our profession, strengthening our company culture and brand narrative. - Mackenzie Kline, Burgeon
