I am Daniel and would like to make known what the Senior Hub Day Care has done for me.
After being diagnosed with dementia in 2001 it became necessary for my mother, Virginia to be assisted at home to insure her safety. On September 13th, 2002 I moved back into the home I grew up in, in Adams County, to care take her. My parents purchased the home in 1962 raising their five children.

The first eight years of care taking included fairly normal life with moms dementia slowly progressing, but by 2010 it became evident that she would require full time care and supervision. As time and her condition progressed the task of taking care of her became overwhelming. Her desire to remain in her home until her passing was in jeopardy. The time, energy, physical, and mental stress of taking care of a loved one at home was overwhelming. Our income consisted of her SSI check nothing more, and the thought of relinquishing her to the care of a facility due to our financial situation was emotionally devastating.

Enter the Senior Hub. Out of desperation I found and contacted the Hub. After an evaluation mom was assisted with Meals on Wheels and later, a home health aide once a week for three hours to assist her and provide me with respite care. Then as her condition progressed further, The Senior Hub Day Care came to my rescue. We went through the paperwork and screening and were over joyed to find we were eligible for financial assistance through a grant. Mom was allowed to attend the Senior Day Care program for 12 hours a week and the impact was immediate. Not only did I have time to make and keep appointments I had put off for years, Mom benefitted from the activities and friendships she made greatly improving her quality of life.

In a time when we want to see our tax dollars doing the most good while providing the biggest benefit, I can tell you, The Senior Hub Day Care is an investment that pays many times what is put into it.
