Sewing for Babies

A nonprofit organization

$3,050 raised by 47 donors

To provide clothing and other items for babies.

Sewing for babies is a non-profit organization that provides items for babies to mothers who don't have finances to buy them. These items are given free of charge to mothers at Blue Valley Community Action WIC (Women Infant Child) Clinics and by Willow Center. These clinics are held in 9 southeast Nebraska counties. Items we sew are quilts, burp pads, changing pads, diaper bags, gift bags, sleepers, receiving blankets, fleece blankets, bibs, afghans, sundresses, hats, mittens, socks, and toys. Beatrice Community Hospital also receives Angel Pockets and Memory Envelopes to be given to mother's whose babies have died. In 2024 we donated 3,311 items at a cost of $8,701.75. Our 15 volunteers spent 4,703 hours sewing items we donated. They are happy to combine their love for sewing with their love for those precious little ones. Any money received will be spent on interlock knit for sleepers, batting and flannel for quilt backs, changing pads, and burp pads.

Testimonials

"I have worked with the WIC program for a little over 3 years and I absolutely love working with Sewing for Babies. We have been SO blessed with quilts, receiving blankets, diaper and gift bags just to mention a few of the items that Sewing for Babies provides to the WIC program. The WIC program has been able to share these lovely items with the participants. In 2024, the Geneva Public Library hosted a Stuffed Animal Sleepover and we were able to provide the quilts made by Sewing for Babies for the sleepover; one mother commented that her child thought the stuffed animal made the quilt and Mom thought that was a magical moment for her child.
