Shaler North Hills Library

Our mission is to champion reading and empower our community through free access to quality resources, outstanding services and dynamic programs.

The Shaler North Hills Library opened its doors on September 27, 1942 with 3,000 books. Today, SNHL offers free access to over 125,000 items, including books, movies, high-speed internet access, digital books, award-winning programming and an enthusiastic, caring staff. SNHL was awarded the National Medal for Museum and Library Service by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. It is the highest honor conferred on museums and libraries that make a difference in community life. SNHL is renowned for its services to children and families both in the library and out in the community. SNHL thanks its wonderful community for its support and kindness.
