Sharon's Place

Sharon's Place is a Christ-centered ministry that provides loving care and support to help adults with intellectual developmental disabilities fulfill their God-given purpose. It was created in loving memory and honor of Sharon Denise Haugen.

Sharon's Place is a nonprofit ministry serving adults with special needs in Van Zandt, Henderson, Rains, and Wood counties.

With your support we offer our adult Friends with special needs a warm and welcoming place where they can discover new interests, enhance their life skills, develop their talents, and be an active part of the community.

When you donate to Sharon's Place you are helping our Friends fulfill their God-given purpose. Your donation provides the tools, resources, equipment, and teachers needed to offer recreation, art, dance, music, cooking and more, along with field trips and other social activities to allow our Friends to continue to develop their cognitive and physical skills.

Besides day-to-day resources for our program, we have a need for a 12-15 seat passenger van for transporting our Friends to events. We are also looking for a permanent facility, that will allow us to offer more programs and serve more Friends with special needs.

Testimonials

In 2024 we were able to deliver 27 classes and events for our Friends. This was instrumental in helping our Friends establish connections and friendships and get involved in activities specifically tailored for them. Each class averaged 20 Friends. We also took a group of Friends to church camp, and held a family carnival which was attended by more than 100 people.

We praise God for what we accomplished and the financial foundation He established in our first year of ministry. Last year, 66% of our spending went directly toward resources and programs for our Friends. Our services were provided through volunteers who graciously donated their time and talent to support our Friends.
