Struggle For Miami's Affordable & Sustainable Housing, Inc.

Struggle for Miami's Affordable and Sustainable Housing is a grassroots Community Land Trust organization built and led by Miamians from the most underserved neighborhoods of Miami like Liberty City, Overtown and Little Haiti, who have been affected by homelessness, eviction, displacement, slumlords’ abuse, gentrification and other forms of housing, climate and social injustice.

SMASH is committed to drive systemic change in Miami by empowering residents, addressing the root causes of the historical problems that affect our most marginalized communities, and providing sustainable and viable solutions to the affordable housing crisis and the social inequities suffered by the Black, Brown and LGBTQ+ populations of Miami.

Based on a healing perspective and the belief that those who have been affected the most should be the ones to lead change, we foster accountability, awareness, cooperation and solidarity with principles of respect, justice, truth and equity. Building community power and supporting Miami’s vulnerable residents through the following strategies:
