The Southbury Arts and Culture Alliance is rooted in Southbury while serving artists, organizations, and audiences throughout the surrounding towns and the regional arts community. Our mission is to promote, inspire, encourage, and support the arts and culture within our community.

Through collaborative partnerships, inclusive programming, and public engagement, our initiatives have demonstrated that arts and culture are vital to Southbury’s identity and growth and to the surrounding region we proudly serve. We believe the arts are for everyone, extending across Southbury and neighboring towns, and we invite you to join us in building a culturally vibrant community.

What we do:

  • Promote & Support the Arts – Encouraging artistic expression through events, exhibitions, and performances.

  • Public Art & Cultural Programming – Facilitating creative projects and cultural experiences for all ages.

  • Education & Community Engagement – Enhancing access to arts and culture while fostering learning opportunities.

  • Collaboration & Advocacy – Serving as a resource for local artists, organizations, and town leadership to support creative growth.

Our work spans a diverse range of programs and initiatives designed to celebrate, elevate, and connect the arts within Southbury and the surrounding communities we serve. Through our Community Spark Exchange Series, we host fireside chats focused on timely and meaningful topics in arts and culture, fostering dialogue and engagement. We also maintain a Community Arts & Culture Calendar and spotlight local makers through our Makers Spotlight series, while providing creative expression opportunities such as the Poetry Open Mic Series.

Annually, we bring the community together through signature events, including the Southbury Chalk Walk, Art in the Park in partnership with Southbury Parks & Recreation, Make Music Day on June 21st, and our Artist of the Year recognition. We also support access to creativity through our Community Artists’ Pantry, where we collect gently used art materials year-round and host a free shopping day for community members to “shop” for supplies at no cost. This initiative helps remove financial barriers and ensures that everyone has the opportunity to create and explore the arts.

In addition, we support community connection and artistic celebration through initiatives such as the David K. Merrill Lifetime Achievement in the Arts Award and the Community Quilt created as part of Southbury’s 350th Celebration. Our work has also extended into civic impact, assisting the Town of Southbury and Sustainable Southbury in achieving Sustainable Connecticut’s Silver Certification.

SACA welcomes artists of all disciplines and mediums, as well as all supporters of the arts, to join its mission!

Whether you’re interested in participating, volunteering, or supporting local arts initiatives, SACA offers many opportunities to engage.

Join us as we shape the future of Southbury’s arts and culture scene, because a thriving arts community benefits everyone!
