The mission is to promote interracial understanding, justice and peace among all people, raise the standard of the home and advance the moral, economic, social and religious welfare of the family, promote the education of women and youth through local, state and district activities; and foster and protect the constitutionally guaranteed civil rights of all people including the rights of women and children to work and obtain equal opportunity.

The adult local clubs provide toiletries and clothing to the family shelters, women's homeless shelters, and the disabled veterans. They also prepare dinners for a community feeding for the homeless, support various non-profit organizations such as local food banks/ pantry by providing non-perishable food items. They volunteer with voter's registration drives, work with the youth during the year with tutoring, help the youth attend civic education classes, and self-development workshops. The adults also assist in preparing the youth for their competitions at Regional and State levels.
The youth participate in leadership skills development, the Gertrude Johnson Williams Oratorical Contest, the Frederick Douglass Essay Contest, talent competition, fashion design competition, arts and crafts competition, web- site design competition, power point presentation, and a scrap book contest.
During the year, the youth collect tabs for the Ronald McDonald House, collect non-perishable food items and provide monetary donations at a local food bank. The youth participate in the Black History Parade and Festival and support the juvenile diabetes.
