Southern Animal Foundation

The mission of SAF is to eliminate the need for euthanasia as a means of animal control in the greater New Orleans area. The clinic was the city's first full service, non profit animal hospital and no kill shelter all in one. By working with the public and local animal shelters, we strive to raise awareness of the homeless animal crisis in the greater New Orleans and surrounding areas. Our entire staff treats all our 4 legged patients as if they were our own.

We provide high quality, affordable veterinary care to the Greater New Orleans area and beyond. SAF is in its' 24th year of operation. We work with animal shelters from within the city as well as surrounding parishes to pull cats and dogs into our rescue program and no kill shelter. SAF fully funds all of their medical care and hospitalization, including life saving surgeries, heartworm treatments, dental procedures, spay/neuter as well. In many rescue cases, we must utilize the expertise of an outside orthopedic surgeon for surgeries involving catastrophic orthopedic and internal injuries to the animal. SAF funds these procedures as well, because every pet we rescue deserves and receives top of the line critical care no matter the cost. Pets are not turned away because of their owner's financial restrictions. Every pet deserves quality and affordable vet care!
