At the SPCA of Luzerne County, our heartfelt journey as a sanctuary of hope began back in 1957. Each day, we pour our hearts into caring for the vulnerable animals in our community who have faced abandonment, abuse, or neglect. It is our deep commitment to provide them with the love, compassion and a chance at a happily ever after they truly deserve.

Who We Are

The SPCA’s mission is the prevention of cruelty to animals by providing:
--Shelter for unwanted, discarded, neglected, and often abused animals.
--An adoption program to place these animals into caring, permanent homes.
--Humane educations programs to enlighten the public about animal problems.
--Humane law enforcement and prosecution programs to address animal cruelty.

We accept ALL stray and unwanted animals into our shelter. We turn no animal away. We do NOT charge a fee for this service, but we do ask for whatever donation a person can afford. We ask that you keep in mind that our SPCA is a local organization. We are not affiliated with any national animal welfare organization, and as such, we do not receive funding from any national society, organization, association, or rescue.
