Witamy! Welcome! St. Stanislaus Catholic Church has been part of the South Omaha community since 1919, founded by Polish immigrants who built the original church and school building by hand, side-by-side with the first pastor. As we continue our second century of faith and service to the community, we pledge to remain a cornerstone of Catholic faith in South Omaha by implementing the vision of Jesus and passing it on to our children and theirs. Our beautiful church and our respect for our Polish heritage are a testament to the sacrifice of those founders. Our current pastor is Fr. William Safranek. We invite you to join us for weekend Masses at 5:00pm Saturday and 8:00am Sunday.
St. Stanislaus Church is recognized as an active center of Polish Catholic culture in South Omaha as evidenced by our City of Omaha Mayor's Historical Grant monument. We invite the greater Omaha community to experience and enjoy our ancestors' faith and customs at our Polish Heritage Mass in October, at the annual St. Stanislaus Polish Festival on the third Sunday of August (a regular winner in Omaha Magazine's "Best of Omaha" competition), and at other parish activities at Easter, Christmas, and throughout the year.
Our beloved school was closed in 2013, graduating its 88th and final class of eighth-graders. However, we continue to worship together as a parish with members in all generations of life, from newly-baptized babies through the Golden Hill Gems senior organization. Through the outreach activities supported by our Men's Club, Golden Gems, and St. Vincent de Paul Society, our parishioners go forth from our sacred space to share the love of Jesus Christ with the needy, the elderly, and others in the St. Stanislaus neighborhood and the South Omaha community.
Our magnificent church features a monumental crucifixion scene at the main altar and includes side altars honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Joseph as well as shrines honoring St. Anne and the Sacred Heart, as well as our patron, St. Stanislaus. In celebration of our centennial in 2019, we erected a Ten Commandments monument on the south lawn and added a new indoor shrine honoring St. Faustina Kowalska and St. Maximilian Kolbe. The church's floral decorations reflect the various liturgical seasons and provide a beautiful and reflective surrounding for silent adoration or for group worship during Mass. Masses are celebrated in English, but our choir continues to honor our heritage by including some Polish hymns at weekend Masses.
