Starting Point

A nonprofit organization

$12,844 raised by 65 donors

Since 1981, Starting Point has offered innovative programs for change, expanding and adjusting programs as needed in our community. Our passionate team of advocates, volunteers, and supporters work tirelessly to make a real difference.

In 2024, Starting Point advocates provided over 20,000 services to more than 700 victims right here in Carroll County. That impact is immeasurable and has an infinite ripple effect. Changing lives, sometimes saving them, affects not only victims but their loved ones and our entire community. Helping people regain their sense of agency, safety, and dignity translates into success in the home and at work and serves as a return on investment in our community’s well-being.

Why Your Support Matters

Domestic and sexual violence affects countless individuals, leaving lasting scars on victims and survivors. Your donation is crucial in helping us provide the necessary support and resources they need to rebuild their lives. By contributing to our campaign, you ensure that we can:

Offer Safe Shelter: Your gift helps us provide emergency housing for victims fleeing dangerous situations, offering them a safe place to heal and recover.

Provide Counseling Services: Funds raised will enable us to offer professional counseling and support groups, empowering survivors to process their trauma and reclaim their lives.

Legal Advocacy: Many survivors need legal support to navigate restraining orders, custody battles, and court proceedings. Your donation ensures they have access to skilled advocates who can guide them through these challenging processes.

Crisis Hotline: It is essential to keep our 24/7 crisis hotline operational. Your contribution helps ensure that anyone in need can seek immediate assistance and support.

Education and Prevention Programs: By supporting our agency, you help us educate communities about the signs of domestic and sexual violence and promote preventative measures to stop violence before it starts.

Join Us in Making a Difference

We need your help to reach our goal and unlock this vital funding. Your generosity can transform lives, offering victims and survivors the support they desperately need. Together, we can create a safer, more compassionate community.

Donate today and be a part of the change. Every dollar counts, and with your help, we can unlock a future free from violence for so many. Thank you for your support!

We’ve been given an exciting opportunity—but we need your help to make it count. A generous supporter through the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation has pledged a $2,500 challenge grant for NH Gives—but there’s a catch: We only receive the match if we raise $2,500 in donations during the 24-hour giving period.

That means your gift doesn’t just help once—it can go twice as far to support survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Carroll County.

💜 If we don’t meet the $2,500 goal, we don’t receive the match.

💜 Every dollar brings us closer to unlocking the full $5,000.

💜 The clock starts at 5 PM on June 10 and ends at 5 PM on June 11.

Let’s not leave this funding on the table. Please mark your calendar and give during NH Gives to help us reach our goal and double the impact for survivors in our community.

Who We Are

Starting Point: Services for Victims of Domestic & Sexual Violence is a private non-profit agency providing services to victims of domestic violence in Carroll County, NH since 1981.

Starting Point’s Board of Directors, staff and volunteers are committed to working and living in a community where individuals do not tolerate the perpetration of domestic violence, sexual violence and/or stalking, and the belief systems which allow these abuses to thrive.

Like many small non-profit organizations, Starting Point began as a grassroots response to a pressing community need. The agency, then known as Carroll County Task Force on Domestic Violence and later Carroll County Against Domestic Violence & Rape, originally consisted of a part time crisis line in the bedroom of a former domestic violence victim. The agency has gradually evolved into a county-wide organization with four full time staff members, two part time staff members and over 30 volunteers. We could not do all we do without our trained and dedicated volunteer pool that provides the agency with over 15,000 hours of service every year.

All of Starting Point’s services are free and confidential...
