The CVC helps victims of any and all crime and their families with a full range of advocacy and crisis intervention services. All our services are free of charge and available to victims, families and community members affected by crime and violence. The CVC provides the services necessary to help victims of crime throughout the Metropolitan St. Louis area (and other areas as requested) reconstruct their lives following the trauma of victimization. Services include:
Crisis intervention
Individual and Group Counseling
Advocacy
Criminal justice guidance
Help for domestic violence victims filing for and obtaining orders of protection
Information on victim issues and victim rights
Preparation for restorative justice activities
Referral to community resources, and assistance filing for state victim compensation programs
The CVC also serves as an advocate for public policy change, bringing about a more compassionate and fair treatment of victims by the community in general and by the criminal justice system in particular. We lead and participate in coalitions, collaborations and task forces to develop best practices and policies for the most fair, ethical and efficient treatment of victims. We testify for laws at the local, state and national levels that provide better opportunities for victims to find justice. We help law makers write laws that reflect the needs of victims and include them in our collective definition of justice.
