At UPMC, we provide patients with enhanced access to renowned cancer specialists, groundbreaking immunotherapy research, more than 500 leading-edge clinical trials, and the latest advancements in cancer detection and treatment technology.
TrueBeam Linear Accelerator
According to the National Library of Medicine, about 50% of people with cancer have some form of radiation during their treatment.
At UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Williamsport, a skilled team delivers radiation therapy to approximately 30 patients daily from across a 14-county region. In 2024 alone, the cancer center administered nearly 8,000 treatments to 675 new patients and 214 returning patients.
To further enhance care, we aim to replace the Varian Trilogy with the cutting-edge Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator, offering:

Cooling Cap Therapy
These 100% donor-funded cooling caps, which help reduce hair loss during chemotherapy, have helped more than 160 local patients since 2021.
Lunch for Patients and Support Persons
Donations enable the Cancer Center to provide lunches for patients undergoing chemotherapy and for their support person. This program helps ease the financial burden and ensures loved ones can remain by the patient's side throughout treatment without the need to leave for a meal.
