Compelled to action by the convictions of our founders, St. Vincent de Paul of Seattle|King County joins the community to listen, engage, and build relationships that assist and advocate for individuals and families to meet basic needs and achieve stability and self-sufficiency.

Description

SVdP was established in King County in 1920 to alleviate poverty for low-income and homeless families and individuals. We prevent eviction, hunger, utility shut-off and assist clients to address barriers to self-sufficiency without discrimination. SVdP operates with a staff of over 100 employees, a Board of 12, over 50 volunteer groups (called Conferences) and over two thousand volunteers. We assist tens of thousands of people every year with basic needs assistance, food, education support, and other services.

Awarded best Human Service Organization in Seattle in 2012.

Independente Charities of America Seal of Distinction

St. Vincent de Paul of Seattle|King County has received the Independent Charities of America Seal of distinction. The organization says "this prestigious award is given to non-profits which pass a rigorous review for being able to certify, document, and demonstrate on an annual basis that they meet the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness." Of the 1,000,000 charities operating in the United States today, it is estimated that less than one percent have been awarded this Seal.
