Our Mission

The mission of Black Soil KY is to reconnect Black Kentuckians to their heritage and legacy in agriculture. By bringing together urban families with rural and urban-based Black farmers/growers/producers across the state, we help introduce opportunities in agriculture that promote self-sufficiency, encourage healthy living, and activate cooperative economics.

Our Vision

Our vision is to help foster a greater market share for Black farmers and producers as they provide healthy food options to a larger consumer base. Black Soil KY has been operating for 7 years as of August 2024, organizing farm tours, farm-to-table dinners, catering opportunities, events, workshops, training, education & outreach, and more for Kentucky Black farmers, chefs, and makers.

Black Soil KY is a one-of-a-kind Black woman-founded and led 501c(3) nonprofit agribusiness established in 2017 which has invested over $1 million into Black farming operations, culinary businesses, creators, craftspeople, and makers through grants, strategic partnerships, sales, and agritourism activities.

We offer a variety of programming at Black Soil KY including:
