Every gift during Raise the Region helps unlock bonus prize funds for the Campus Theatre.
As one of the last single screen art deco movie palaces in the country, The Campus Theatre LTD (CTL) became a 501c3 non-profit historic movie theatre in 2001. We just celebrated a Birthday and a remarkable 85-year history entertaining and bringing the community together over our love of the silver screen!
The Campus Theatre opened its doors in Lewisburg, PA on January 17, 1941 just 11 months before the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Campus Theatre was designed by architect David Supowitz, and built by the Stiefel Brothers, Oscar, Harold, Barney, and Morris, who eventually ran eleven Pennsylvania theaters. In 1953, Morris’s son Harold Stiefel and his wife Jacquie managed the theatre which had become a community space to watch storytelling on the big screen.
Serving Union, Lycoming, Northumberland, Snyder, Mifflin and Centre counties, The Campus Theatre remains dedicated to the promotion of cinematic art and bringing popular films to the big screen, to keep community moviegoing a thriving form of entertainment for new generations through free film programs.
Your generous support of The Campus Theatre will help keep the mission of this non-profit functioning to captivate, educate, and inspire for generations to come! The Campus Theatre became much more than a movie palace; it is a place where hearts are tugged, laughter roars, and memories are made.

The theatre offers diverse film programming with a healthy balance of mainstream, fine art and independent films with entertainment that is culturally relevant and brings understanding to contemporary concerns. As a non-profit organization, CTL is committed to providing engaging quality films for free, when possible. Towards that end, each Summer the CTL organizes a weekly Children and Family Film Series and Hitchcock Film Series. Each Winter the CTL hosts a Cozy Holiday Film Series.
A tradition instituted in 1941 by founder Harold Stiefel, The Campus Theatre offers free admission with the donation of a canned good, which is then donated to a local food bank. It is precisely through strong community support during Raise the Region and community grants that The Campus Theatre has been able to continue the tradition of kids free holiday and summer films and various film education events for the kids and families.
