The Foundation for the West York Area School District

The Foundation for the West York Area School District (WYASD) is a volunteer-led, 501c3 non-profit that serves the students of the District in partnership with the district and community. 

OUR MISSION, OUR VISION

The mission of The Foundation is to acquire and distribute funds to enhance educational opportunities for all students enrolled in the school district. The Foundation funds worthwhile programs which may not have been implemented due to budgetary constraints. Our vision,  is to ensure the highest level of educational resources and innovation supporting students, faculty, and staff through community involvement in a lifetime partnership of learning.

ABOUT US

Like all school districts within Pennsylvania, the West York Area School District (WYASD) has been faced with tighter budgets. In an effort to be proactive, the WYASD assisted in the formation of an educational foundation in 2012 selecting the name The Foundation for the West York Area School District. 

The purpose of this foundation is to secure private, tax-deductible donations and grant money to help fund WYASD programs and resources. Working in strong collaboration with the School District’s Board, The Foundation operates as an independent entity from the School District and receives its governance from its own Board of Directors.

FOUNDATION OBJECTIVES

• To fund creative and innovative programs and resources for WYASD schools, programs, and services. 

• To encourage community involvement and support for the schools. 

• To permit and develop partnerships with WYASD alumni and their parents. 

• To develop relationships with business, industry and government agencies.
