What is The Living Arts & Science Center (LASC)?

The LASC is a place for people of all ages to engage with hands-on learning in the arts & sciences.

OUR MISSION: Engage the community in participation in the arts & sciences through education, discovery, exploration, and creativity.

At the LASC, we strive to support the needs of the Lexington and Central Kentucky community, creatively blending the arts & sciences to provide innovative learning experiences for people of every age.

  • 224 Students in Title 1 Schools Receive Free After-school STEAM Education



  • 1,274 Individuals were Reached with Our Mobile Planetarium



  • 14,495 People were Reached through Outreach Events with Live Science Experiments & Art Activities


At Our Center:



  • 3,964 People Reached through LASC Events



  • 215 Classes in 2023



  • 5 Galleries Display thousands of pieces of artwork annually



  • 2 Artists-in-Residence


We have classes, camps, and workshops for ages 0-100. To sustain our programming & ensure that quality, educational programs in the arts & sciences are available to ALL Central Kentuckians, we need your help.


The LASC is home to:


12 Species of Animals  |  5 Galleries  |  4 Classrooms  |  3 Exhibits  |  2 Community Gardens  |  1 Commercial Kitchen & Ceramic Studio  |  The Only Planetarium in Lexington
