Founded in 1937, the LO has shaped music internationally with the release of more than 150 albums of newly composed music since 1948. Today, with an annual budget of $8M, 58 full-time musicians, and a 34-week performance season, the LO is changing the very idea of what a 21st-century orchestra can be and do. Performing more than 90 public concerts each season, plus scores of education demonstrations, community presentations, and online and broadcast concerts, the LO engages and inspires an audience of nearly 100,000 each year. An array of concert series includes: Classics concerts with world-renowned artists; the Pops, led by veteran conductor Bob Bernhardt, and Family series; and our Music Without Borders series held at locations throughout the city. Through energetic leadership, Music Director Teddy Abrams is driving the vision for the LO to become “the most interesting orchestra on the planet.”
