The Mission at Kern County (formerly The Bakersfield Rescue Mission) has been providing hope and restoration to the homeless and addicted since 1952. We believe that there is hope and a future for those who come to us for the services we provide.

  • We offer 3 meals a day to anyone in need (365 days per year)
  • Case Management
  • We provide approximately 94,500 bed nights each year.
  • CompTIA certification
  • Microsoft Office and GED training

Every day, The Mission receives countless requests for shelter, food, wrap-around services, and addiction recovery programs. We proudly offer all of these services free of charge.

The Mission has the only walk-up emergency overnight shelter for men. We also offer free recovery programs for men, women, and women with children. This includes job training and self-development classes.

We have been providing HOPE in Kern County for 71 years now and will continue to meet the needs of the most vulnerable in our community. Community partnerships and generous donations allow us to provide these resources without fail...even during the pandemic, our gates remained open.

Join us in transforming lives!
