The Ark TVCC Campus Ministry

The purpose of the Ark Campus Ministry at Trinity Valley Community College is to assist the students in their relationships with God and one another. This will be accomplished by relationally engaging students where they are and by identifying, encouraging, and equipping students and staff to carry God's love and hope to others on campus. The Ark has at its core a need to stay rooted in Christ's unfailing love for all and always have the marks of authenticity, inquiry, and radical welcome!

The Ark Campus Ministry has served the students at Trinity Valley Community College since 1970. We believe that college students are in a crucial stage of life, and we seek to provide opportunities for emotional and spiritual development happen best outside of the college classroom. We also think it is important that the communities in which we live should serve and live cooperatively to lead and guide them into loving communities and relationships as well.

The transition period from high school to college presents a significant opportunity for shaping productive citizens in our community and helping students navigate greater degrees of freedom and choice. College students regularly abandon traditional ties to churches. The Ark can help students embrace their own faith journey. This will help deepen their personal identities in a way that aligns with the unique life stage in college and helps them to discern God's will for their lives.

College students often view college education only as credentialing (a set of requirements to complete), and not a way of learning new skills and evaluating new ideas. Since the Ark is outside but intentionally intertwined with the educational system, it provides an opportunity to address students as people and push them to think beyond the mere attainment of a degree or credential. As a ministry that seeks to help students grow both spiritually and personally, we hope to help students consider the important issues in our culture so that they can be whole and productive citizens in our community.
