Theatre UP: 46 Years of Live Theatre in the North Country!

Theatre UP creates exceptional theatre experiences that enrich our community, produces award-winning performances, provides transformative educational opportunities, and serves as a gathering place for connection, self-expression, and belonging. Rooted in Littleton and reaching across the North Country, Theatre UP is powered by local talent, regional partnerships, and a belief that creativity is at the heart of healthy communities. Every show, class, and collaboration reinforces our brand promise: to be a place where people come together to be seen, heard, and inspired.

Season 46 Highlights

AN AWARD-WINNING SEASON - Two grand musicals, a gripping drama, and our third youth show! UP's production of Arthur Miller's “The Crucible” was a timely performance, garnering many accolades and nominated for five awards. Our winter production of Stephen Sondheim’s "Company" uplifted and wowed audiences, and our spring show "Titanic the Musical" boasted not only a talented cast but a glorious 22-piece orchestra. Our third Youth Production of MTI's “Beetlejuice JR” included a cast of 40 young people who delighted audiences. The 2025-26 season included over 140 actors & technicians and 175 volunteers who helped to bring these shows to the stage.

GROWING FAMILY - In 2013, UP was a company of 25 volunteers and 350 patrons, and we produced one show a year. UP in 2026 has four staff, 45 contract workers, 175 volunteers, 3300 patrons, and produces four shows each season. These numbers reflect not only our commitment to growth but a community as invested as we are in UP being a thriving theatre arts center in the heart of the North Country. Our Executive Director and Artistic Director work closely with the Board of Directors to facilitate UP's continued growth. Our Operations Manager facilitates and oversees the smooth running of our operations, and our Education Team brings incredible opportunities to those of all ages interested in honing the craft.

OUR NEW HOME - THEATRE UP ON MAIN - Theatre UP is transforming the historic Masonic Temple at 137 Main Street in downtown Littleton into a vibrant home for creativity, learning, and connection. This dynamic location will open on September 26, 2026 and house: dedicated space for our growing education program; flexible performance space and rehearsal studios; UP’s main offices; our costume studio, and production and administrative infrastructure to support year-round programming. We will continue to perform at the Littleton Opera House and use the beautiful space at Theatre UP on Main to offer additional programming & intimate performances.

EDUCATION - UP's goal is to cultivate creativity, confidence, and collaboration through exceptional theatre education programs that serve all ages and prepare emerging artists and technicians for collegiate and professional opportunities. We launched Year I of our UP Academy and are preparing for Year II in the fall, which will offer two tracks: Year II for teens and Year I for middle ages. We will also be going into the schools to offer programming onsite.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS - Community supports community, and we are  grateful to partner with so many local organizations to provide opportunities for others. We look forward to working with additional organizations as we grow. Our partnerships include:
