Big Picture Project

A nonprofit organization

The Big Picture Project wants to create an honest picture of the realities that exist for the impoverished and oppressed across the world. We believe that an accurate picture of cultures who have been marginalized can only come from the individuals who call these areas home. Photography transcends the barriers of language and literacy. By connecting individuals who have been forgotten with the opportunity to share their story, we can amplify their voice and give them the tools to share their perspective with the world.

Our model is designed to not only give vulnerable individuals access to creatively share their voice, but to utilize their stories to gain access to the lifeline needs they are lacking by creating tangible products with their images and selling them with 100% of the funds going back into the community. When these vulnerable individuals realize they can be the change makers in their community, it redefines the perception of Western aid and how they experience it. Through our projects we elevated vulnerable communities by increasing access to lifeline need such as shelter, clean water, education, health care, and food.

As we work towards new goals, we aspire to expand our reach to a broader range of individuals facing adversity. By empowering more visual artists to use their influence and expertise to serve the underprivileged, we can build partnerships with more communities in need.
