Friends of Lake Meredith - Alibates

A nonprofit organization

A couple of years ago,  we found that the fishing tournament opportunities for preteen and teenagers was not being addressed in this area. With the donations we received, during the Panhandle Gives we are now able to host the annual Pre-Teen & Teen Fishing Tournament at the Sanford Yake dock each year the first weekend of October at no cost to the kids or their families.

Nothing we do would be possible without generous donations, our devoted volunteers, and sponsors.  We need your help to continue to promote and improve these local gems - Lake Meredith & Alibates Flint Quarry.  Fireworks over the Lake Meredith (the first Saturday in July each year) and our other free events are made possible by every dollar you give!

The Friends of Lake Meredith-Alibates was formed in
November 2004 to support and promote the Lake Meredith National Recreation Area
and Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument in partnership with the National
Park Service (NPS). Over a million people visits these unique areas each year.  The Friends group works alongside
the NPS to improve the quality of visitor's experience through fundraising, projects, and free events.

Most visitors are Texas residents, campers, local school districts on field trips, generations of fishers, boaters, and swimmers who return to share their love of the lake with future generations. Lake Meredith has something for everyone. The Friends group continues working to make Lake Meredith and Alibates a destination location that will become a go to place for visitors and future generations.

The Friends group has been involved with the Alibates
Visitor Center and Museum and Butterfly Garden, online real time lake web cameras,
Star Parties, Bird walk, and Movie @ the Lake and the Pre-Teen & Teen Fishing Tournament - these events are only possible with your help and donations.

The future projects of the Friends of Lake Meredith-Alibates
will continue to focus on the needs and wants of the visitors as well as educational opportunities. Some of the possible future projects/events
we are working on may include a Birding Program, Hiking Trails, expanding the Independence Day celebration, and the Derby at the Dome event. We are looking into the use of cell
phone apps and QR codes for education and entertainment opportunities of our
visitors.

Nothing we do would be possible without generous
donations, our devoted volunteers, and sponsors!!!

                      You are Greatly Appreciated!!
