The Methodist Oaks

A nonprofit organization

The mission of The Methodist Oaks is to provide superior continuing care retirement living and a working environment that nourishes the human spirit and preserves personal dignity by addressing the whole person in an atmosphere which witnesses Christian values and love.

The Methodist Oaks was founded in 1953 by the South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church as the SC Home for the Aging. Through the years, the Home expanded to meet the healthcare needs of its residents and the community. Today, The Methodist Oaks is a continuing care retirement community offering independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing and rehabilitation on a 650 acre campus in Orangeburg. Additionally, The Oaks offers a Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) serving Orangeburg, Bamberg and Calhoun counties. Across all living options and service areas, more than 400 residents and patients are cared for by The Methodist Oaks.

Our current focus is on the addition of a secure memory care unit which will be housed inside the Sheffield Medical Center. The unit will house thirteen residents whose dementia has progressed to a higher level of care.
