The Muny

More than 100 years ago, The Muny was the most innovative theatre in the country. In recent years, we have made significant investments in improving the audience experience-new fans, accessible seating, updated concessions and preshow entertainment plazas. However, the facilities, equipment and infrastructure essential to produce our high-quality shows have not been renovated or updated in decades-in some cases since their original installation. The start of our second century is the time to address those areas and enhance The Muny's brilliance.

It's time for The Muny-and for St. Louis-to celebrate our past, realize our future and reimagine Muny magic. Your Give STL donation helps ensure the tradition, community foundation and awe-inspiring art that define The Muny at our core will endure for centuries to come.

The Muny is America's largest-and oldest-outdoor musical theater venue and produces 7 musicals each summer, each of which is equal in size or scope to a Broadway production. Our theater seats 11,000, including 1,500 free seats for every performance. Plus, we provide an additional 100,000 free tickets every summer to more than 100 social service organizations through our Community Access program. The Muny is accessible to all, offering assistive listening devices for each show and interpretive services for the hearing- and sight-impaired for select performances. Ushers are specially trained to take wheelchair-bound patrons from our lower parking lot to and from their seats. In addition, The Muny Education Initiative offers eight educational programs to students across the St. Louis region and beyond, many of our education programs focus on one of our key strategic initiatives: providing hands-on musical theatre experiences to the underserved youth of the St. Louis region.

Generations of St. Louis audiences have enjoyed Muny productions-children, parents, grandparents, family and friends. All have a story to tell of their first Muny show or the lifelong traditions formed while enjoying musical theatre under the stars. While every story is unique, all share a common thread: the singular, heartfelt experience of sharing and creating an unforgettable experience at The Muny.
