The Royal Boys Choir

A nonprofit organization

To foster self-confidence and leadership in urban young men and to evoke positive social change in our community through performances and mentorship.

From New Orleans, LA, The Royal Boys Choir is a mentoring/performance organization consisting of young men, ages 9-19, singing of hope and change. We aspire to spread the message of love and non violence throughout our communities. The Royal Boys Choir was formed during the unfortunate closing of Miller McCoy Academy, an all boys public school that was on a mission to change the lives of urban young men. The Miller McCoy Boys Choir had just been formed and was being recognized all over the city. The choir was featured on WDSU News, WGNO News, and other broadcasting stations. Once the decision was made to close the schools doors, many wondered what would happen to the choir. Reginald Varnado Jr., the choir's director, decided to continue the choir under a new name. The Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church graciously opened their doors to The Royal Boys Choir. Now consisting of boys from around the city, the Royal Boys Choir will continue to spread its message to whomever will listen.
