The Social Cog

The Social Cog is a nonprofit organization founded to meet a vital, previously unmet need for independently functioning adults with developmental and learning disabilities. Our mission is to create meaningful connections and a sense of community among adults seeking genuine friendships with like-minded peers.

At the heart of our program is The Three Cog Method - three interconnected components that work in harmony to help our members build and sustain authentic relationships:

1. An Accepting Peer Group – providing a welcoming community of understanding and support.

2. Individualized Social Coaching – offering personalized guidance to strengthen social and emotional skills.

3. Shared Social and Emotional Experiences – fostering growth, confidence, and friendship through real-world engagement.

Together, these elements empower members to connect, grow, and thrive—both socially and emotionally.
