The Village Nac

A nonprofit organization

To create a healing community empowered by God's unconditional love, where broken people become whole.

The Village Nac is a faith-based intentional community that serves adults with chronic mental health issues and / or homelessness. Their mission is "to create a healing community, empowered by God's unconditional love, where broken people become whole." This is not a mental health facility, but rather a live-in environment that is conducive to healing - imposing no time limit on residency or getting well. At The Village Nac, isolation is considered to be the enemy to avoid, and "community" is part of the solution.

The 21-acre site houses residents in single-dwelling tiny homes and has many amenities, creative outlets, micro-enterprises, and opportunities for community engagement. Every resident agrees to participate in community living, and to contribute to making the Village a better place by taking responsibility for an assigned chore that lessens the load on others while awakening a sense of purpose in themselves. The full-capacity property master plan includes seven neighborhoods of twenty tiny homes each (140 residents total) with two of the homes in each neighborhood to be occupied by live-in mentors. The Village Nac currently has the first of seven neighborhoods fully operational and at full capacity- housing 19 residents and 3 live-in staff - and has already started construction on Neighborhood Two.

The property, which was formerly an old church camp, was a generous gift from the Charles and Lois Marie Bright Foundation and was deeded to the Village Nac in June of 2020. The abandoned facility had been in a state of disrepair, but with the help of donors and many dedicated volunteers, the grounds and twelve existing structures have been renovated and transformed into a place of beauty. Since The Village Nac welcomed its first eight residents three years ago, it has continued to expand its housing and amenities which include a game room, fitness center, conference & technology room, library, large multi-purpose room, outdoor performance pavilion, commercial kitchen, dining center, coffee lounge, outdoor kitchen, laundry center, woodworking shop, stained glass studio, pottery studio, art studio, gift shop, thrift store, built-in swimming pool, chicken coop, sheep pasture, honey bee farm, security gates, administrative office, and a community courtyard with pergola, koi pond, fire pit and gardens.

The Village Nac vision is "an environment of beauty and acceptance - for those struggling from chronic mental health issues and homelessness - that fosters hope, inner peace, dignity, the joy of life and genuine love for others." The improvements and additions that have been made on the property to date, all contribute to the physical and mental well-being of residents who have come to find support and refuge; while on-site classes, programs, discussion groups, special events and activities all stimulate social and spiritual growth. Some residents use the Village Nac as a temporary respite to gain stability, while others are making it their permanent home.
