Thibodaux Friends of the Library

The Thibodaux Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization that supports the library and promotes the use of library resources. The mission of the organization is to support programs, help develop new services, and facilitate communication between the library and citizens of Lafourche Parish.

Donations support our Lights for Literacy Program (where funds are used to purchase new books and other materials for the Children's Department), Books for Babies (where a new book is purchased for every child born at the Thibodaux Regional Medical Center), and many branch projects, such as: National Library Week, Summer Reading Programs, Halloween Treats, the Veterans Day Breakfast, and the December Holiday Open House. Patrons of the library receive the complimentary BookPage, a monthly publication of book reviews from the Friends.

I like the Lights for Literacy program offered at Christmas time by the Friends. It is a way to remember loved ones both past and present. Other patrons note: The Thibodaux Friends of the Library provides funds to the Thibodaux branch for additional programming, much needed equipment, support for children's summer reading, and special events throughout the year.

The work of the Thibodaux Friends of the Library continuously highlights the fact that our library is the cornerstone of the community, providing opportunities for all to engage in the joy of life-long learning and to connect with the thoughts and ideas of others from the past to the present.

The Thibodaux Friends of the Library board members' gift of their time and commitment to the library sets an example for all of how volunteerism leads to positive civic engagement and the betterment of our community.
