$1,500 Goal

We aim to lower the barrier to entry to the writing community by connecting New Orleans writers to others with a shared passion so that we can learn, write, and grow together. With events geared toward writers at every step of their journey, from the beginner to the seasoned professional, we support and fortify our local literary community through free and low-cost peer-to-peer learning.

Third Lantern Lit hosts workshops and events for the local writing community. This includes a generative writing series, craft workshops, roundtables led by local writers such as Alex Jennings, Jami Attenberg and Maurice Carlos Ruffin, industry panels, and an annual one-day writers' retreat where 30 writers gather to spend a day writing, workshopping and bolstering each other's creativity.

All of our events are free due to the generous support of our community partners and volunteers.

New Orleans writers include journalists, poets, memoirists and fiction writers of all genres. Our creative community flourishes and supports each other, adding to the vibrant history of our city's literary traditions.

The donations received will help us operate and grow our organization.

Testimonials

BarbaraLynn C., writer: Third Lantern Lit has contributed to my growth as a writer in so many ways: They provide me with structured events that allow me the space and time to focus on my work. They offer workshops that help me with everything from outline creation to marketing. And most importantly, they create a safe space for all types of writers to work on their craft. I'm so grateful for 3LL.

John G., writer: Third Lantern Lit afforded me the opportunity to attend a workshop on how to read and perform a written work, and then read a portion of my debut novel in front of a live audience. The 3LL website has put me in touch with a diverse community of New Orleans writers.
