Thunderbeard Outdoor Restoration Organization

Thunderbeard Outdoor Restoration Organization is a nonprofit environmental volunteer outfit based in the American West. We are a passionate team of outdoor enthusiasts who vigorously protect the places we love to visit. We pride ourselves primarily on our ability to access deep wilderness over difficult terrain, because Thunderbeard knows that the hardest places to reach on this planet are in many cases the most fragile, rare, and important, and we aim to defend them. Thunderbeard is a relatively new nonprofit organization, in only our second year of official operation. We are currently working to develop a portfolio of successful projects in a variety of specialties to showcase our abilities, while also developing relationships with other conservation groups and wilderness outfitters. Locally, we are working to create an annual schedule of regular conservation events, such as river and canyon clean-ups, as well as trail adoptions for brush removal and maintenance, including the recent adoption of Boulder Canyon Trail in the Superstition Wilderness. Thunderbeard is currently recruiting members to become certified site stewards, and scheduling trips to monitor various archaeological sites around Arizona to prevent looting and vandalism.

Our global outreach program has created park management write-ups for UNESCO World Heritage sites in New Zealand and Cuba, where we also performed debris removal events and citizen science surveys on invasive species. Our next major international project is on the Caribbean island of Montserrat, where we will develop an environmental impact study on the volcanically annihilated town of Plymouth. We are also excited to announce that we will be building Thunderbeard Reef, an artificial coral reef off the coast of Montserrat that will help provide a habitat for animals displaced by the volcanic eruption and subsequent development that took place to relocate people to safer parts of the island.
