The Thurman Perry Foundation's mission is to offer direct financial assistance and essential public health and educational resources to at least 10,000 women & girls impacted by incarceration nationwide by the year 2030. We believe in prioritizing, dignifying, and compensating this overlooked and underserved population through our two primary initiatives: The Perry 'Second Chances' Scholarship and Girl Code. The Perry 'Second Chances' Scholarship provides women and girls impacted by incarceration who are currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or vocational school with one-time scholarships to supplement their tuition, textbooks, housing, childcare, or other essential resources that they need to thrive in their educational endeavors. To date, we have awarded $17,000 in scholarships to 17 winners across the United States. The Thurman Perry Foundation aims to ensure that all currently incarcerated women and girls have access to the high quality period care products they need through our Girl Code Program. In conjunction with the Orleans Parish Justice Center, The East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, and the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women, we have donated over 110,841 menstrual products to help 1,911 women and girls. Through our Mother's Day 365 program, we help deserving moms impacted by incarceration through rent/mortgage payment relief. To date, we have given $13,000 in housing relief to 26 moms around the US.
